Space Perspective prepares for luxury space flights, secures $86.3M in funding
Aug 19, 2024
Space Perspective, a pioneering company in luxury space tourism, has been making significant strides as it prepares to offer commercial flights to the edge of space. The company, founded in 2019, plans to provide passengers with a unique experience aboard its "Spaceship Neptune," a high-altitude balloon that will take travelers to approximately 100,000 feet (30 kilometers) above Earth. These six-hour journeys, slated to begin by late 2024, promise breathtaking views and a gentle ascent, all without the high G-forces associated with traditional rocket launches.
The company is co-led by Jane Poynter and Taber MacCallum, both of whom are veterans in the aerospace industry. They previously co-founded World View Enterprises and have been involved in various space-related projects, including the Biosphere 2 project and the Red Bull Stratos jump.
As of the latest updates, the company has already sold out its first year of flights and is currently taking reservations for 2025 and beyond. Tickets are priced at $125,000 per person, with the option for customers to reserve entire capsules for up to eight guests.
The leadership team's deep experience in both spaceflight and business innovation positions Space Perspective to be a leader in the next frontier of luxury travel (SpaceNews, Wikipedia, PitchBook).

Space Perspective has successfully raised approximately $86.3 million in funding to date. This capital has been crucial for developing the Neptune spacecraft and preparing for the company's ambitious launch schedule. Their investors include a mix of venture capital firms and private investors, reflecting strong confidence in the burgeoning space tourism market.
